Dr.
Rolando Garcia Jr graduated Summa Cum Laude from Tulane University in 1983.
He majored in Biology, and during his undergraduate education he worked
in the laboratory of Dr. AV Schally, the winner of the Nobel Prize in Medicine
in 1977. He was a member of the Tulane Scholars Program, and was inducted
into the Phi Beta Kappa Honor Society. Dr. Garcia obtained his Medical Doctorate (MD) from Tulane University School of Medicine in 1991. Also while attending medical school, Dr. Garcia obtained a Masters in Public Health from the Tulane University School of Public Health. Dr. Garcia completed a five year residency in Orthopedic Surgery at Tulane University School of Medicine. On his final year of training Dr. Garcia was named as Chief Resident of Orthopedic Surgery, and was selected by his fellow residents as The Irene Thibodeaux Resident of the Year an award granted to an outstanding graduating senior resident who for his leadership and knowledge. Dr. Garcia completed a one year fellowship in Spine Surgery at the North Carolina Spine Center. He is Board Certified by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery, and is currently in practice in Aventura, Florida. Dr. Garcia specializes in the care of spinal conditions. Although fellowship trained in Spinal Surgery, Dr. Garcia emphasizes the role of prevention and non-operative care of most spinal conditions. |
